Micropop - an MP3Blog

Welcome to Micropop.net, my entry into the world of MP3Blogs.  The blog's initial purpose is to create a guide to the artists releasing and promoting music via the Internet.   Future plans include creating a community to provide links to other artists worth checking out.

The primary focus of this blog will be Rock and Pop music.  I'm interested in discovering and promoting artists/bands who write songs and use traditional instruments, with a little synthpop thrown in there for good measure.   I'll save for another day all the artists who are releasing music in the techno, house, idm, experimental, etc., genres.

Another goal of mine is to find musicians who are releasing material on either Netlabels or under the Creative Commons License.  The Creative Commons license is an exciting development for both creators of content and people who use it.

Since at first glance much of the open source audio and Netlabels that can be found on the Internet Archive, an excellent starting point, can be classified as Electronica, I will also be exploring the websites where bands have opted to promote their music instead.  Garageband and Myspace are prime examples of this type of site.

Bear with me, for at this point, not only am I trying to pull together an initial set of artists to highlight, but I am also trying to figure out what options should be implemented on this site. Under consideration is the ability to add comments, a discussion forum, and allowing other users to add their own content.
